Profile: Mary Baldwin College offers signature programs and gateways for every woman in its residential college, which is consistently rated in the top 25 schools in the south.

The “Annual costs*” figure is the total cost for in-state students: it includes tuition, room and board, and all other fees such as technology, student activities, etc., which vary by school. Books are listed separately.

Schools provided SAT scores at the 25th and 75th percentile (middle 50 percent band) for admitted freshmen. The SAT test has three components: critical reading, math and writing. When the writing section was added to the SAT in 2005, the total number of points that can be earned increased from 1600 to 2400. Most of the schools responding to this survey reported scores for only the reading and math portions.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch compiled this information from surveys that were completed by each college or university.
