Thousands of residents across the commonwealth turn to community colleges for training and education. Approximately 240,342 students took at least one credited course during the 2006-07 academic year.

Virginia is home to 46 residential colleges where students can live on or off-campus. A handful of schools that offer four-year and graduate degrees, however, do not have on-campus housing.
